Dominic McCourt is a British abstract artist, born in 1995 and based in London. His work explores non-literal mapping: how we navigate life through internal maps shaped by memory, experience, love and loss.

Raised in the English countryside, McCourt developed an early interest in drawing and painting. Influenced by Abstract Expressionism and Aboriginal Australian art, he returned to painting during the pandemic following a significant personal loss as a method of exploring emotion and a changing sense of direction.

Through layered colour and bold, expressive strokes, his paintings explore human emotion, instinct and our sense of direction. From his early works to his latest solo-exhibition,The Magpie, his practice considers how human experience, and the people we lose, shape our understanding of ourselves and our place in the world.
